This is the first painting I do since I started the Estampa Series Project, which I think is going to end soon. I’m doing it with the purpose of begin a new whole series that I hope I could start in a month.

This painting is like those images that just appear in your mind while you’re looking at an old vertical empty canvas and you just decide to paint it and see what would happen.

Esta es la primera pintura que hago desde que empecé mi proyecto de Estampa Series, la cual va a terminar pronto. Lo estoy haciendo con el propósito de empezar toda una nueva serie que espero, pueda empezar en un mes.

Esta pintura son de esas imagenes que aparecen en tu mente mientras miras un viejo lienzo vacío, y simplemente decides pintar y ver que pasa.

Estampa Series 08

A few days ago, I finish my Estampa Series 08; I thought it was going to end in catastrophe, of course, if I could finish it. Everything was wrong from the beginning, the wrong place, the wrong moment, the wrong side of the board, it even wasn’t me when I started painting it, I felt completely outside me. It’s been three months and everything is falling on its right place, the painting worked and I’m recovering little by little what I lost.

Hace unos días terminé mi Estampa Series 08 y pensé que iba a terminar en catástrofe si era que este llegaba a su conclusión. Todo empezó mal, en el lugar, en el momento y en el lado equivocado de la tabla, ni siquiera era yo cuando empecé, me sentía completamente enajenada. Han pasado tres meses y ya todo vuelve a su lugar, la pintura hizo su trabajo y yo vuelvo a recuperar lo que poco a poco lo que yo había perdido de mí.

My Purse was stolen

Not so long ago my purse was stolen with a lot of things inside, among them, my sketchbook. From all the stuff I lost, it’s the one that makes me sadder not just for the ideas I had there but for a pair of good memories I can’t get back and some drawings my friends did on it. Anyway, as soon as I could I started a new sketchbook.

Hace poco mi bolso fue robado y entre una cantidad de cosas que tenía, se llevaron también mi libreta. De los objetos que perdí, el que más me entristeció fue sin duda ese, no sólo se llevaron con ella varias ideas sino un buen par de recuerdos que ya no puedo recuperar y algunos dibujos que mis amigos habían hecho en ella. Así que tan pronto pude, empecé mi nueva libreta.

After almost a whole year of work, I finally finished my Estampa Series 07. Working on this one I always felt there was something wrong, and nowthat it’s finished I feel it’s the strangest painting on the series. I’m not sure if it’s the figure, the color or the composition, but, for some reason, I like the result. I’ll start working on Estampa Series 08, I think it’ll be ready on 2012

Finalmente, después de casi un año terminé mi Estampa Series 07, siempre que lo trabajaba sentía que había algo que no encajaba del todo, ahora que está listo siento que es raro, por alguna razón siento que es la pintura más extraña de toda la serie, no sé si es por la figura o el color o la composición, pero por algún motivo, me gusta el resultado, empezaré ahora a trabajar con Estampa Series 08 pero creo que estará listo ya para el 2012.

Y así se acaba otro año, un año que me pareció dos años por todo lo que pasó, y por todo lo que se desvaneció.

Go Twisters!

It has been almost two months since my last post, I’m really sorry my lack of compromise with the updates, but the last months and particularly this year has been quite weird. A few weeks ago I made a trip to México, it took me 37 days, I visited museums, streets, ruins, small towns and lot other places, I ate and drank everything I could and used all type of imaginable transportation; water, earth and air. During this time, I also did some sketches I bring here and loved to drew a lot more.

Besides, I’ve been working for a animated film called “Ana’s Diary” directed by Diego Guerra, it will be in theathers in 2012. I can assure you Colombia has not seen a feature film like it, you will see next year.

Finally, in France Amazon a compilation of sketchtravel was published, around 71 artists, 15 cities and one sketchbook made part of the project. Some of the artists were (and I’m just naming one of this incredible and talented group): Hayao Miyazaki, Dice Tsutsumi, James Jean, Sylvain Marc, Gerald Guerlais, Rebeca Dautremer, Enrico Casarosa, Tomer Hanuka and other artists that I’m forgetting right now, made a sketch in one page of this sketchbook. Ya han pasado casi dos meses desde mi último post. Lamento mucho mi falta de compromiso con las actualizaciones, pero estos últimos meses y particularmente este año ha sido un poco extraño. Hace poco tiempo hice un viaje por México que duró 37 días, y allí conocí tantos lugares como me fue posible. Es por lejos el viaje más increíble que he tenido, estuve en museos, en las calles, en las ruinas, en los pueblos y en muchos otros lugares, comí y bebí todo lo que pude y anduve en todo tipo de transportes imaginables, por agua, por tierra y por aire. Durante este tiempo, también logré hacer un par de bocetos que aquí traigo, aunque hubiera deseado dibujar un poco más.

Por otro lado, les cuento que he estado trabajando para un largometraje animado llamado “El Diario de Ana” dirigido por Diego Guerra, estará en los cines en 2012. Les puedo asegurar que no se ha visto un largometraje animado en Colombia como lo verán el próximo año.

Finalmente, se publicó en Amazon Francia la recopilación de sketchtravel, donde alrededor 71 artistas, 15 ciudades y una libreta de apuntes conformaron el proyecto. A Secret

Until today, I’ve just showed you only the painting part from the Estampa Series, but I’ve been also working in other drawings made out of fabric and hair.

I was keeping it as a secret, but the whole project is taking more time I expected, however I’m still hoping I can end it this year, but it’ll have to wait after a great trip that is coming.

(I know, it’s not the best quality… In the future, I’ll change the camera)

Hasta hoy, Sólo había mostrado la parte de pintura del proyecto Estampa Series, pero también he estado trabajando en otros dibujos hechos con tela y cabello.

Lo había mantenido como secreto, pero todo el proyecto está tomando más tiempo de lo que esperé. Sin embargo, espero que puedo terminarlo este año, aunque tendrá que esperar hasta después de un gran viaje que se avecina.

(Sé que la fotografía no es de la mejor calidad… pero en el futuro cambiaré de cámara)

Better Faster Stronger

The last month almost kill me, but I survived; what a crazy time, I haven’t lived such strange and weird things, good and bad, all at the same time.

Anyway, here I am after several months, I’ve not been available to work on my personal stuff; I’m actually working in an awesome project I hope would be released next year. Meanwhile, my studio looks sad and
lonely, I mean, too clean; and I have a painting from Estampa Series unfinished, lately, I feel really interested in male portraits, I still need some models for the next paintings, but it has to be some months later, at least, I think it’s time to varnish.

Finally, some sketches from last months, I can’t avoid the fact that every time I see these sketches, I feel nostalgic, full of memories…it’s just weird.

Así que el último mes casi me mata, pero sobreviví de cualquier manera. No había vivido tantas cosas tan raras y extrañas, buenas y malas, todas al mismo tiempo.

En todo caso, aquí estoy después de varios meses, no he podido continuar con mi trabajo personal, pero al menos he estado trabajando en un gran proyecto que espero sea lanzado el próximo año. Mientras tanto, mi estudio luce triste y sólo, es decir, está muy limpio; y tengo una pintura de Estampa Series sin terminar. Últimamente me he sentido muy interesada en retratos masculinos, aún estoy buscando modelos para las siguientes pinturas, pero será después de algunos meses, al menos, pienso que ya es hora de barnizar.

Finalmente, algunos bocetos de los últimos meses, no puedo evitar el hecho de que cada vez que los veo, me siento un poco nostálgica, llena de recuerdos, en fin, es raro.
